Giannoulias-Backed Bills Advancing Road Safety, Library Security and Efficiency Head to Governor

SPRINGFIELD — A package of bills backed by Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has cleared the General Assembly and is now awaiting the governor’s review. The legislation includes measures to increase the behind-the-wheel driving test age from 79 to 87 and allow families to report unsafe drivers, expand security grant access to libraries facing threats, modernize the Court of Claims through digital access, strengthen protections against cheating on Commercial Driver’s License exams, and enhance safety rules for bicyclists. Another bill protects personal data in vehicle records, aligning it with confidentiality standards for driver licenses and IDs.
