ROCHELLE – From the Heart, a Rochelle-based nonprofit, concluded its operations Tuesday with a final distribution of $90,000 to nine local organizations during an event at the Flight Deck. Each group received $10,000, including the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry, Hope of Ogle County, Community Action Network, Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center, Rochelle Area Community Foundation, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Foundation for Focus House, Pegasus Riders and Hub City Senior Center.
Founder and President Dave Eckhardt said the support year after year was incredible.
“It’s been a great run. I mean seriously when you think about averaging $50,000 a year for 18 years that’s pretty cool,” he said.
Over 19 years, the organization raised a total of $1.1 million, including $216,000 through calendar sales.
