SPRINGFIELD – Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs returned $22 million to nearly 19,000 residents in January through the I-CASH program, which helps people reclaim lost funds from uncashed checks, insurance payouts, and forgotten accounts. A media push for National Unclaimed Property Day on February 1st led to a record 38,389 claims filed in one week. Under Frerichs, more than $2.2 billion in unclaimed property has been returned, including nearly $300 million in 2024.
