ROCHELLE – A power pole that was holding not only power lines but transformers toppled Thursday afternoon near the Spring Lake Pool in Rochelle. Residents on the southeast side of town were without power for around 6 hours while Rochelle Municipal Utility crews worked to restore services. The Flagg-Rochelle Park District closed the pool for the day. According to Blake Toliver with RMU, high winds on Wednesday likely made the pole unstable, causing it to fall down the embankment next to the waterfall feature at the Spring Lake facility. South Eighth Street will remain closed until crews can finish up repairs. No injuries were reported.
