Dylan Manning of Rochelle is back in the hospital after an infection on his scalp.
The junior football and baseball player had a cranioplasty procedure on his head in January. This was a 3-D printed plastic for his scalp.
Manning had brain surgery in October following an injury during a football game.
Ben Manning, Dylan’s father, said that his son had stitches removed from his head last Monday. He became ill the next day and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Manning said that Dylan had an infection as surgery was done to remove the plastic from his scalp.
Ben said that 1 drain to remove fluid was taken out on Saturday. The second should be removed in a couple of days.
Dylan is expected to be home this week. Ben said that no date has been set on when surgery will take place on his scalp.
He said that doctors will use titanium when the second cranioplasty procedure will be done.
Ben said that his son planned to return to school this week prior to the infection.
