ROCHELLE – An Oregon man was cited after he reportedly tried to beat a train in Rochelle and ended up striking a house. The Rochelle Police Department say they were called around 12:30 PM on Friday to the 1200 block of 1st Avenue, where they say a 43-year-old lost control of his vehicle while traveling east on Highway 38. Witnesses claim the driver accelerated, jumped the center curb, struck a stop sign, then hit another curb before rolling down a hill and crashing into a residence, causing extensive damage. The Oregon man refused treatment at the scene for his injuries. He was also cited for reckless driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
