ROCHELLE — Families will have the chance to explore downtown Rochelle during the Downtown Rochelle Association Family Fun Day on June 27th from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will feature activities hosted by local businesses, vendors throughout the downtown district, face painting, and a Touch A Truck display with large trucks, emergency vehicles, and equipment. Downtown Rochelle Association Vice President Matt Gerard said the event is intended to bring residents and visitors back to the downtown area and showcase local businesses.
“We’re going to have vehicles scattered all over the downtown district, and everybody’s super excited to get not just regular patrons, but entire families coming down and realizing this is a place they want to spend their time on their weekends, and that’s right here in home,” Gerard said.
Organizers said all active downtown businesses are expected to participate in some capacity. Gerard said the event comes as the downtown district continues to see improvements, including new paving, sidewalks, and other projects designed to attract visitors and encourage business growth. Activities for children and families will be available throughout the afternoon, and businesses will be open for shopping and browsing.
