Dixon YMCA Completes Purchase of Lovett Child Development Center

DIXON — The Dixon Family YMCA has completed the $5.7 million purchase of the Lovett Child Development Center, securing long term childcare services for up to 195 children from newborns through age 5. The purchase was supported by a $1 million donation from Dixon Land Group, a partnership of Walsh Partners and Xsite Real Estate, along with financing through Sauk Valley Bank and the Advantage Illinois program. The center currently serves about 130 children. YMCA officials said the purchase follows a difficult period last summer when the organization faced financial uncertainty. Community leaders later secured $200,000 in bridge funding to help stabilize operations while the YMCA of Rock River Valley assisted with management and leadership support. Dixon City Manager Danny Langloss said the organization has shown stronger leadership and financial discipline in recent months. Lee County Industrial Development Association Executive Director Tom Demmer called childcare an important part of workforce development, while Discover Dixon Executive Director Amanda Wike said the YMCA remains an important part of the community. The center is named after late Dixon National Bank leader Don Lovett. YMCA Executive Director Heather Grobe said the organization will now focus on growing enrollment, supporting staff, and expanding services for local families.
