Digital Asset Tax Rules Open For Public Comment

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Revenue has posted draft proposed rules for the Digital Asset Tax Act and is seeking public comments before formal rulemaking begins. The tax applies to digital asset business activities provided by digital asset brokers to Illinois customers and was enacted as part of Public Act 104 0468. IDOR is seeking feedback on issues not addressed in the draft rules and additional examples that could help explain how the tax applies in specific situations. The draft rules are available for review on the IDOR website through 5 p.m. Oct. 30.
