DeKalb Urges Residents to Submit Forms for Free Lead Line Replacement

DEKALB — The City of DeKalb is urging more than 60 homeowners to return their consent forms to qualify for a free lead or galvanized water service line replacement, funded by a $3.1 million grant. The work is part of a statewide effort under the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act. Without a signed form, the City cannot move forward with the replacement, leaving property owners responsible for future repair costs and required disclosures during home sales. The City advises residents who received a letter in May to respond as soon as possible to avoid missing this limited-time opportunity.
