DeKalb Township To Host Fair Housing Workshop

DEKALB — DeKalb Township will host a free fair housing and disability discrimination awareness workshop May 20 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 2323 South Fourth Street in DeKalb. The event is being held in partnership with Prairie State Legal Services, RAMP and HOPE Fair Housing Center and is intended for landlords, property managers, tenants, caregivers and community members. Organizers said the workshop will cover topics including service and support animals, reasonable accommodations, property modifications, live in caregivers and housing voucher protections. Attendees will learn about fair housing laws, disability related housing rights and what may qualify as discrimination. The event will offer both in person and virtual attendance options and lunch will be provided for in person attendees who register in advance.
