SPRINGFIELD — Residents and businesses in DeKalb County are eligible to apply for low interest U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans following the severe storms that struck Illinois on June 10, 11 and 17. Eligible homeowners can borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace damaged real estate, while homeowners and renters may receive up to $100,000 for damaged personal property. Businesses and nonprofit organizations can apply for up to $2 million for physical damage. In person assistance is available at the SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center at Streator City Hall, 204 S. Bloomington St., in Streator. Applications for physical property damage are due by Sept. 8, while economic injury loan applications must be submitted by April 12, 2027.
