DeKalb County History Center Updates Sycamore City Council

SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County History Center gave a presentation to the Sycamore City Council Monday night on its volunteer work, programs, and local projects. Executive Director Michelle Donahoe said the center had 214 volunteers in 2025, contributing more than $230,000 in service. The center hosts exhibits, including a nationally recognized food-themed exhibit, and is developing public art projects in DeKalb and Sycamore to highlight local immigrant and agricultural history. It also supports local organizations, manages the Joyner History Room, and offers concerts, walking paths, and expanded gardens. Donahoe noted the center draws visitors from across the region and works with partners such as Habitat for Humanity and Northwestern Medicine while preparing programs for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
