DeKalb Council To Purchase 50 Parkway Trees

DEKALB – The DeKalb City Council awarded a $23,750 contract Monday with C.R. Nelson Wholesale Plant Supply to purchase and install 50 new parkway trees throughout the city. The project is part of a broader urban forestry effort funded by a $255,300 Morton Arboretum Tree Equity Grant awarded in 2024. The grant also covers the removal of 40 hazardous trees and pruning of 738 trees in designated census tracts. The full cost of the new trees will be reimbursed through the grant, resulting in no net impact on the city’s fiscal year budget.
