DeKalb City Council Considers Water Rate Increase

DEKALB – The DeKalb City Council is reviewing a proposal to raise water rates by 3.8%, which would increase the average monthly water bill for residents by $1.60, from $42.33 to $43.93, starting in July 2024. The adjustment, tied to the most recent Consumer Price Index (CPI), is designed to address rising costs in the water fund, which covers expenses like infrastructure repairs and maintenance. The increase would generate an estimated $277,793 annually for the fund, according to DeKalb City Manager Bill Nicklas. The City Council voted to move forward with the increase.
