DEKALB — Kelly Sullivan of Elder Care Services in DeKalb has been named the 2026 Illinois Adult Protective Services Advocate of the Year by the Illinois Department on Aging. The statewide award recognizes Sullivan’s work helping vulnerable older adults and adults with disabilities. State officials praised her for assisting a client facing homelessness by securing emergency shelter, coordinating medical and emotional support, and helping the individual move into stable housing. The department also recognized Sullivan for protecting clients’ rights, mentoring coworkers and providing compassionate service throughout her work.
