DAVIS JUNCTION – Davis Junction is considering naming its 10-acre park after John O. Sandvik, a longtime community member. Sandvik was born 1922 in Davis Junction and spent 85 years contributing to the community. He was a charter member of the Lynn-Scott Fire Protection District, where he served for 34 years, a member of the Davis Junction-Scott Township Historical Society, and a 50+ year member of the Ogle County Farm Bureau. Sandvik also served as president of the Big Mound Cemetery Association for 20 years. The village is discussing renaming the park “Sandvik Park” to honor his legacy, replacing the generic “10-Acre Park” name.
