Davis Junction Approves Local Grocery Tax to Replace Statewide Version

DAVIS JUNCTION — The Davis Junction Village Board approved an ordinance to implement a 1% municipal grocery tax starting January 1st, following the state’s decision to eliminate its own grocery tax at the end of this year. The move allows the village to maintain current revenue levels by replacing the expiring state tax with a local version. The local tax will apply to most grocery items, including butchered meats, but will not affect hot prepared foods typically sold at gas stations or convenience stores.
