Chesney Bill Strengthens Protections for Child Victims

FREEPORT — State Senator Andrew Chesney helped pass legislation aimed at strengthening protections for child victims of sex crimes while addressing potential constitutional challenges. Chesney said, “When it comes to protecting children from sexual predators, there is no room for error.” House Bill 3393 strengthens Illinois law on closed circuit television testimony for child victims and is intended to help the protections withstand court challenges under the Sixth Amendment. The measure now goes to the governor for consideration.
