BYRON – The City of Byron is moving forward with the selection process for a new City Administrator following the retirement announcement of Brian Brooks, who plans to step down later this summer. Three candidates have been identified, and the city is sending questionnaires ahead of in-person interviews set for early next month. Brooks, who returned to the role in 2023, previously served as Byron’s first City Administrator in the 1990s after starting as City Attorney. He later spent nearly two decades with a national affordable housing developer and worked with a Chicago nonprofit before rejoining the city in 2022. He will remain in the position until a replacement is hired.
