Byron Council Approves TIF for Sundae Social

BYRON — Byron City officials approved a TIF agreement to support renovations of a new ice cream shop downtown. Owners Pete and Katrina Kirby of Sundae Social previously approached council with plans for electrical, plumbing, and exterior updates, noting costs were higher than expected due to building age and infrastructure needs. They said the business at 114 West Second Street would provide jobs for local youth and create a family-friendly destination, just as their mobile ice cream trailer did last year. The Byron Council approved exterior design element adjustments and agreed to grant around $63,000 to Sundae Social, 75% of the renovation cost.
