BYRON — The Byron City Council unanimously approved a resolution last week authorizing city staff to begin discussions with other local taxing districts about extending the city’s tax increment financing district. The resolution does not extend the district but allows the city to start discussions with the affected taxing bodies. The current TIF district is scheduled to terminate April 26, 2027. City officials said they will need to clarify the final collection of property taxes and other timing details with the city attorney. The district was established to support development and redevelopment, and any extension would require further action. The resolution passed by a 5 to 0 vote.
