ROCHELLE – The Rock River Valley Blood Center will hold its annual “Save Our Summer” blood drive on June 4th from Noon to 6 PM at Holcomb Bank in Rochelle, with mobile donation buses on-site and food available from Headon’s Fine Meats food truck.
Maggie Anderson with the Rock River Valley Blood Center said this is when donations are critical.
“We have a hard time getting donations with all the kids out of school and people are busy and traveling and going out and about. So our demand goes up and our supply goes down,” she said.
“So this timing of our Save Our Summer blood drive is so important because we really need to stock up our hospitals before we go into those tough summer months.”
Donors can schedule an appointment at RRVBC.org or walk in without one. The center supplies blood to 14 area hospitals.
