LOVES PARK — A 27-year-old Aurora man is charged in the death of a toddler from Loves Park. Loves Park police say they were notified in July 2023 after a three-year-old boy was admitted to a Rockford hospital with a brain bleed and bruising on his body. The child, which was previously diagnosed with multiple disabilities, died nearly a year later in the hospital. His death was ruled a homicide. Investigators determined that Joshua Bernardini was in a relationship with the child’s mother. He was charged with first-degree murder and arrested last week in Kane County.
