AG Raoul, DOJ Submit Final Proposal to End Google’s Search Monopoly

CHICAGO  — Attorney General Kwame Raoul, alongside a bipartisan coalition of 38 state attorneys general and the U.S. Department of Justice, has proposed a final package aimed at ending Google’s illegal monopoly in internet search engines. The proposal includes a ban on Google’s search-related payments to distribution partners, the potential divestiture of Chrome and Android, and the sharing of certain user and ads data with competitors for a limited time. These measures aim to promote competition and innovation while protecting consumer interests. The proposal follows a 2024 court ruling that found Google violated federal antitrust laws.
