SPRINGFIELD – With St. Patrick’s Day approaching, law enforcement wants to remind those wanting to have a good time celebrating need to do so responsibly. There will be increased patrols statewide on every level of law enforcement, funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Those wanting to enjoy the evening may wish to use some sound advice, like having a designated driver or use a ride-share service, instead of pressing their luck. Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle wants to encourage everyone to celebrate safely.
“So as part of our ongoing effort with the National Transportation Safety Board. We’ll have additional deputies out on the road just to make sure that everybody is safe if you’re out and partake in the activities of St. Patrick’s Day, do the responsible thing and get a ride home,” said VanVickle.
