ROCHELLE – Updated storm water plans were discussed Monday night in Rochelle for the former Hickory Grove property. With upcoming Illinois 251 and Route 38/Jones Road work expected to be completed in the next few years, the state is looking for a location to manage water drainage in the area.

The presentation included a sunken grassy area designed to remain dry except during periods of excessive rain. A second dry detention area would be located northeast of the lot. The edge of the one-acre property facing Illinois 251 would remain large enough to accommodate a potential 7,700-square-foot building, a drive-thru, and about 20 parking spaces. IDOT noted that it could be up to two years before the Illinois 251 reconfiguration and repair in Rochelle. The proposal will be voted on at an upcoming Rochelle City Council Meeting.
