LASALLE — A 33-year-old Byron man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in LaSalle, which was destroyed in a blaze nearly three years ago. The fire, which occurred early in June of 2022, completely destroyed the building. Raymond E. McHugh was apprehended on Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Authorities say the fire was intentionally set after finding evidence of a prior burglary. McHugh faces charges of arson and is awaiting a pretrial release hearing. He is also currently facing unrelated charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer and domestic battery.
