Hastings Wins $15,000 Race at Byron Dragway

BYRON — Nick Hastings of Shelby, Ohio won Friday’s $15,000 race during the Autoland Door Car Challenge at Byron Dragway by defeating Brett Williamson of Rockford in the final round. Hastings secured the win after Williamson recorded a negative .003 reaction time. Friday’s events also included the winner take all King of Byron race, where Grant Zimmerman of Pekin defeated Nick Folk of Durand to earn a $5,000 payout. Bobby Ince Jr. of Kewanee later won the gamblers race over Stephen Liss of Elgin. Race fans will be admitted free beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday will close the event with a $15,000 finale.
