CHICAGO – Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza says she will not seek re-election in 2026. She made the announcement yesterday in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood. Mendoza mentioned that she will figure out where she’s needed most. There is speculation that she is considering a run for mayor of Chicago in 2027. Mendoza previously ran for mayor in 2019 when she was eliminated in the first round of voting. She went on to endorse Lori Lightfoot, who eventually went on to win.
