Durbin Visits Rockford Mobile Health Program

ROCKFORD — U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin joined Mayor Tom McNamara and officials from the Rockford Fire Department on Wednesday to discuss the city’s Mobile Integrated Health Program. The program provides mental health and chronic disease services aimed at preventing emergencies and reducing hospital visits. Officials said the program handles more than 3,500 patient encounters each year through referrals from hospitals, health clinics, food pantries and 911 calls. Durbin said the program helps improve community health by treating people at home and preventing costly hospitalizations. McNamara said the program continues to grow as more residents receive care and support in the community.
