Illinois Joins Lawsuit Against Trump Administration Over Freezing Of $6.8B In Ed Grants

CHICAGO  —  Illinois is joining a group of more than two dozen states challenging the Trump administration’s freeze on nearly seven-billion-dollars in education grants before the start of the school year.  Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is part of a coalition of 25 states and attorneys who filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration.  The coalition argues that the Trump adminstration’s actions violate federal funding statutes and multiple provisions of the U.S. Constitution.  The group asked the court to declare the funding freeze unlawful.
