OREGON — Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center will partner with Hope of Ogle County to host a fundraising and community recognition event on May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at River’s Edge in Oregon. The event will include lunch, an empowerment speaker, and recognition of individuals making a positive impact in the community, with proceeds supporting services for children and families affected by abuse and neglect. Executive Director Jessica Cash said the organization is seeking sponsors.
“We are starting hopefully an annual event that will bring recognition to people in the community that do good things, make a difference in the community,” she said.
Christy Schweitzer, president of the board of Hope of Ogle County noted “We are so excited to partner with Shining Star, and this is our inaugural event. We’re hoping to make this the first of many to come and an opportunity to really recognize individuals in our community for their leadership, support, courage, and helping to bring positive change.”
