DeKalb Street Program Includes North First Street Resurfacing in $3.28 Million Plan

DEKALB — Resurfacing work on North First Street is included in a more than $3 million street maintenance program that is set for final approval at the DeKalb City Council meeting Monday night. City officials said the addition brings the total planned investment in local roads and alleys this year to $3.28 million. The 2026 program also includes resurfacing Hillcrest Drive from Sycamore Road to Normal Road, along with the removal of speed tables that officials said contribute to wear on vehicles and maintenance equipment. They will be replaced with other traffic calming measures and increased enforcement. Other planned work includes County Farm Road from Peace Road to Barber Greene Road, the Overlook Pointe subdivision, parts of Greenwood Acres subdivision, and several alleys.
