Day Of Service Planned at DeKalb County History Center

SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County History Center will host a Day of Service on April 25 from 9 am to noon, inviting volunteers to help prepare the campus grounds for the spring and summer season during National Volunteer Week. Participants will assist with outdoor work including spreading mulch, planting flowers, and preparing garden beds, with no experience required and guidance provided by staff and Master Gardeners. Executive Director Michelle Donahoe said, “If you have time, we can put you to work. This day of service is a day to get your hands dirty because we will be outside from 9 to 12.” The History Center said its gardens produce more than 1500 pounds of food each year that is shared locally to help address food insecurity.
