MONROE TOWNSHIP — Monroe Township Fire and Ambulance Protection District officials responded Saturday afternoon after a resident reported concerns about an electrical outlet in their home. The resident said a fire truck was not needed but wanted the issue checked. Upon arrival, officials found heavy smoke staining on the wall and a melted outlet. No injuries were reported. Officials said the resident shut off power to the outlet, which helped prevent further damage. Fire officials said electrical issues can become dangerous and urged residents to report concerns to 911 to keep homes safe.
