Brooks Appointed Byron City Treasurer

BYRON — The Byron City Council appointed Brian Brooks as city treasurer at its meeting. Brooks stepped down as city administrator in August 2025 after serving in the role since January 2023 following his return to the city in 2022 when the position was reinstated. He previously served as Byron’s first city administrator in the 1990s after beginning his career as city attorney. He left in 2000 and spent nearly 20 years with a national affordable housing developer before later working with a Chicago nonprofit focused on low income housing development. He has now taken on the duties of city treasurer, and is expected to work less than 1,000 hours this year.
