ROCHELLE — A town hall was held Tuesday night at Rochelle City Hall to review new legislation from the most recent session and answer questions from local residents. State Sen. Li Arellano Jr., Rep. Bradley Fritts, and Mayor John Bearrows led the discussion, offering an overview of newly passed laws and how they may affect the community. The event also gave residents a chance to share concerns and ask questions about issues impacting the region.
“We appreciate having Senator Arellano here and a state rep, Brad Fritts. They were able to give some clarification on some bills that are either in the wings waiting to be passed or some bills that have already been passed. So I think it was a very good clarification for some of our residents, for what’s going on in Springfield,” said Rochelle Mayor John Bearrows.
“It’s with the weird way the maps are drawn, you have to get out and go to the different parts of the district and listen to them and take their needs over there. And the best part of questions is I get to hear specifically is what am I constituents mind in any given region? And that’s critical information to then take down to Springfield,” said State Sen. Li Arellano Jr.
“I am thrilled to be able to represent the Rochelle community and to be able to be here with Mayor Bearrows and Senator Arellano to listen to what our constituents have to say. We are elected to represent all the constituents of all of our districts. And this gives us an opportunity to get some feedback to make sure that we properly have our finger on the pulse and can properly represent our constituents down in Springfield or here at city hall,” said Rep. Bradley Fritts.
