DIXON — The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes touched down Thursday afternoon in Lee and Ogle counties following damage surveys conducted Friday. Officials say two EF1 tornadoes and one EF0 tornado occurred. The Palmyra Woosung tornado in Lee County had peak winds near 100 mph and was on the ground from 6:11 to 6:18 p.m. The Pine Creek Township tornado in Ogle County reached about 105 mph and lasted one minute. The Holcomb tornado in Ogle County was rated EF0 with winds near 85 mph and was on the ground for about three minutes.
The Palmyra-Woosung tornado has been rated an EF1 with estimated peak winds of around 100 mph. The tornado track was approximately 5.6 miles long with a maximum width around 250 yards. The tornado began at 6:11 PM and dissipated at 6:18 PM.The Pine Creek Township tornado has been rated EF1 with peak winds estimated near 105 mph. The tornado track was approximately 0.6 miles long with a maximum width around 80 yards. The tornado began at 6:24 PM and dissipated at 6:25 PM.The Holcomb tornado has been rated EF0 with peak winds estimated near 85 mph. The tornado track was approximately 2.7 miles long with a maximum width around 350 yards. The tornado began at 6:44 PM and dissipated at 6:47 PM.
