BYRON — The Byron City Council on Wednesday approved declaring a 2007 Chevy Kodiak truck as surplus and authorized its sale through public auction. City officials also outlined plans to replace aging public works vehicles as part of the upcoming budget. Director of Public Works Aaron Vincer cited ongoing maintenance issues. The city plans to spend about $200,000 to replace two trucks, including a pickup with a service body and a larger service truck chassis. Existing equipment will be reused when possible to reduce costs. Vincer noted the current fleet includes vehicles from 2007 to 2010 that have become unreliable.
