States Challenge Repeal Of Mercury And Air Toxics Standards Rule

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul says he and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison are leading a coalition of 21 states and local governments challenging the Trump administration’s repeal of the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards Rule. In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Raoul and the coalition said the repeal is unlawful because the EPA failed to provide a reasoned basis for it and failed to adequately consider developments in practices, processes and control technologies.
