A solo home run by Edgar Quero in the 6th inning gave the White Sox the win.
Michael A. Taylor also had a 2-run single in the game for Chicago.
Adrian Houser pitched 8 innings and got the win. Grant Taylor got the final 3 outs for his third save.
Antonio Senzatela took the loss for the Rockies.
Game 2 in the series is Saturday night in Colorado.
