ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved an engineering agreement last week with Willett Hoffman and Associates to design and construct upgrades at the city’s water reclamation facility. The project includes an addition to support chemical phosphorus removal in preparation for future permit limits expected by 2030 and improvements to the domestic lift station control panel. Officials said the chemical system will serve as a backup to the plant’s existing biological phosphorus removal process. The work will also include new controls, electrical upgrades, and integration with the plant’s SCADA system. The city will spend $136,300 on the project, which will be funded through the capital improvement fund that has a budget of $350,000.
