State Senator Pushing For Private Insurance To Cover Seizure Detection Devices

SPRINGFIELD –  A new bill proposed in Springfield would require insurance coverage for seizure detection devices.  The FDA currently approves multiple devices that alert people of upcoming or ongoing seizures.  They cost anywhere from $250 to $2000, according to Democratic Senator Julie Morrison, from Lake Forest.  She is proposing private insurance companies provide coverage for these medically-necessary devices with patients paying a maximum $50 annually.
