OREGON – A Byron woman was cited Wednesday after her vehicle allegedly struck the back of a van stopped for tree trimming on northbound Illinois Route 2 between Byron and Oregon. The van, driven by a 73-year-old man from Loves Park, was stopped by a flagger when the collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. The Loves Park driver and his passenger, a 54-year-old woman from Oregon, were taken to Swedish American Hospital with minor injuries. Deputies were assisted on scene by Oregon and Byron fire and EMS units. The Byron driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
