BYRON — The Byron Community Services Committee reviewed an estimated $920,000 proposal for the 2026 Streets Program that focuses on road resurfacing and sanitary sewer maintenance Wednesday night. The plan, based on the 2025 Byron Infrastructure Assessment by Fehr Graham, includes $680,000 for streets, with major overlays on downtown corridors including Chestnut, Market and Walnut Streets, and preventative slurry seals in the Edge-A-Town and Brighton Ridge subdivisions. Engineering for street work is estimated at $114,000. The sewer portion totals $235,000 and uses cured-in-place pipe lining on All Saints Drive and Hamer Court to extend existing mains and manholes, with around $47,000 for engineering. The proposal includes a 10% contingency fund and officials said timely approval will allow bids to be issued sooner for construction. Public Works Director Arron Vincer wanted the council to move on this quickly to get bids out earlier for best results. Byron officials are expected to approve this in a future meeting.
