CRESTON – The Creston Village Board introduced Matt Hansen of Willet, Hoffman and Associates as the village’s new engineer during Tuesday’s meeting and discussed ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects. The West Street water main improvement project with Martin & Company is moving forward, with materials being ordered and an EPA construction permit in process. The board also reviewed sidewalk replacement plans and village finances. The lead service survey is about 70% complete, with officials noting that full cooperation from residents is still needed before the April 15, 2027, deadline, which requires replacement of all lead, galvanized, or uninspected lines within 15 years, including galvanized pipes formerly connected to lead. Hansen said that the village would want to act sooner than later, as they may qualify for IEPA loan forgiveness for replacing service lines instead of passing those costs on to the property owners.
