OREGON — The City of Oregon could soon partner with the Illinois Housing Development Authority to develop a Community Revitalization Strategy aimed at identifying local housing needs and linking them to economic and community goals. At the Oregon City Council meeting last week, City Manager Darin DeHaan said that they’ll need help to gather the data.
“We’re going to need individuals that will volunteer to help with the housing survey,” he said last week.
“Part of it could be assessing needs for disabled individuals that need ADA access. But it’s gonna take community volunteers to help do this.”
IHDA will assist with plan development, stakeholder meetings, and technical guidance. DeHaan noted that this could lead to more funding opportunities.
“It also opens us up again to some grants and those types of things like some other communities have gotten.”
