Duane Meyer Trial Continues With Graphic Fire Evidence

OREGON – Jurors on Wednesday saw nearly 100 photos on the second day of the trial of Duane Meyer, a 43-year-old Byron man accused of intentionally setting a 2016 house fire that killed his ex-wife Margaret Meyer, 31, and their 3 year old son Amos. Crime scene investigators testified some images were graphic, including photos of Margaret Meyer’s body and a soot outline marking where the child was found. A retired Ogle County detective also testified about interviewing Meyer’s girlfriend at the time, Catherine Mearns, who consented to a phone search. Meyer faces four counts of first degree murder, two counts of aggravated arson, and one count of concealing a homicidal death
