SPRINGFIELD – After Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed Senate Bill 1723 last August, carbon sequestration will be banned at or under the Mahomet Aquifer. The law taking effect Jan. 1 also creates a commission to study the effects of carbon sequestration in collaboration with the University of Illinois.
